Some grading services charge more than others and some are better than others, but none of the top grading services can be bribed. If it was a U.S. gold coin and it was not a modern issue I would say yes, but I am not sure what kind of a person would go for your coin. It may be just selling for its gold content if that is the case why pay to have it graded. One thing to remember is the new eBay rules that only PCGS, NGC, ANACS and ICG are acceptable grading companies when a selling can say who graded it and it’s grade. All others, who are suing by the way, are considered raw by eBay and you will have your ad pulled if you mention them and their grade. I don’t think it matters on your coin raw or slabbed but look at ebay and see what is going on with modern non U.S. modern gold coins.

yes yes you should it might be worth a lot and like the pawn shop people will try to buy it for cheap even though its worth a million

i’m not sure but an antique shop sold a antique vase to a customer for $5 but it was actually worth over $200,000 because they didn’t know the value of it

I will tell you this: a certified gold coin tends to sell for a higher price than an uncertified one. Condition is 99% of the value, second only to ore content.

Secondly, since a certified graded coin is visibly worth x amount, people are much more comfortable paying a higher price.

Third: i have never heard that any coin company will grade higher if you pay them more. Ever.
