The best place to have bought silver or gold would have been Europe in the early 1400s…you could have sold it in 1492 for a healthy profit, but since then, both gold and silver have been going steadily sideways in “real value” (adjusted for inflation), so they are really not a very good idea unless you just LIKE owning something that loses a little value every year, on average…
